Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has sacked the Local Government Council Caretaker Chairmen he appointed a year ago.
According to the governor in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Sen Emmanuel Onwe, “The Caretaker Chairmen have been directed to hand over to Heads of Personel Management (HPMs) in their respective local government before the close of business on Thursday September 8, 2013”.
The governor expressed his gratitude to them for their services to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.
The statement also mentioned the governor as having effected a minor reshuffling of his cabinet.
It stated that Mrs. Elizabeth Nwogbaga who was in charge of Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution was moved to Culture and Tourism Ministry.
Mr. Francis Orji was transferred from Ministry of Water Resources to Border Peace and Conflict Resolution.
Mrs. Euphemia Nwali moves from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to take charge of the Water Resources Ministry.
In the reshuffle, Mr Donatus Njoku of Solid Minerals and his Economic Empowerment and Job Creation counterpart swapped position with Hon Sabinus Nwankwegu.
The statement stressed that all hand over processes must be concluded by the affected Commissioners by 12noon on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, a lot of the cabinet members are still gripped by fear following reports of impending major cabinet reshuffle in which many of them may be sacked.
Though, no official statement has been made on the issue, sources close to the governor say the major reshuffling would likely still take place between October and December ,because of what political pundits described as the governors wish to do away with non performing commissioners so that he could start the new year with fresh and dynamic set of Commissioners.
