It was indeed a gory sight to behold laced with wailings by sympathisers on Thursday in Berger area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria as eleven (11) people got burnt to death in a ghastly motor accident.

According to Lagos State Emergency Mangement Agency officials, those who died in the accident which occurred on Otedola Bridge were made up of eight males and three females.

General Manager, LASEMA, Michael Akindele said the accident involving the 14-seater passenger Volkswagen commercial bus with Lagos colour happened as it lost its brake, somersaulted and busted into fire around 6.00pm.

He confirmed that three persons were lucky as they were rescued alive and immediately rushed to the accident and emergency unit at toll gate.

LASEMA’s response team, Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Fire Service and the Nigerian Police were involved in the rescue.

Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Dolapo Badmos also confirmed the tragedy, saying it occurred around 6.00pm, adding that the command’s operatives from Isheri-Berger Division received a call that an 18-seater bus heading towards Berger from Mushin was involved in a lone accident and caught fire and eleven people died in the vehicle.
