Prof Ayatse to be crowned as 5th Tor-Tiv on Saturday amidst tight security.

The formal installation of the fifth Tor-Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse,as the fifth Tor-Tiv is to hold on Saturday in Gboko with adequate policemen already mobilized for the event.

Commissioner of Police in charge of Benue, Mr Bashir Makama, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi that adequate security arrangement had been made to forestall security breaches during the installation at the Gboko Township Stadium.

Makama warned those harboring sinister intentions to stay away from the venue of the installation or face “grave consequences for their actions.”

He said, “any attempt to cause problems at the event will be met with disastrous consequences.”

The police bosssom said the security surveillance was not restricted to Gboko but covered the entire state.

“It’s not just about the police alone; it is a joint security task force that is combing the entire state because we know there will be an influx of people coming into the state for the installation.”

Makama said already his men had conducted successful raids on several criminal hideouts in Gboko and made arrests.

He said there were adequate measures to effect crowd control and advised car owners to adhere strictly to the parking arrangements to avoid confrontation with security operatives.

“We will ensure that only those permitted to come into the installation ground are allowed entrance into it, every other person that does not have any business in the arena will be disallowed entry.

Prof Ayatse, the new Tor-Tiv was before now a professor of Bio-Chemistry and former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal Universities, Makurdi in Benue and Dutsen Ma in Katsina state.

He was elected fifth Tor-Tiv on Dec. 20, 2016.
