Osun Residents to get biometric ID Card.

By Tunde OLowu. Residents of Osun State are to be provided with personal biometric identity card by the government before the end of this year.
The governor of the state ,Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola disclosed this at the launch of the distribution of the first set of the cards tagged “am alive”.
According to the governor, over 70,000 public servants including pensioners are to be issued with the card, adding that personal identification numbers and necessary biometric information will be distributed to allow beneficiaries to have access to government critical social services such as health facilities.
Ogbeni Aregbesola noted that when fully operational, the card will block impersonation, multiple job registration and corruption that has entered the civil service.
He stated that the exercise will cover Ministries, departments, agencies ,local governments and parastatals in the state, adding that the government has already achieved 100 per cent success in its revenue generation through ICT in the state.
Speaking on the biometric identification card, the state Commissioner of Finance , Mr Bolorunduro said the card can be used both in Nigeria and outside the country.
He said the introduction of the card was meant to make life comfortable for civil servants in the state.
