Nigeria’s GDP figure for release soon—-Minister

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the federal government has concluded all arrangements to release a Gross Domestic Figure,GDP for the country.
An indication to this effect was given by the Minister for Information, Mr Labaran Maku after Wednesdays FEC meeting in Abuja.
THE Minister told journalists that for the first time in about 15 years the country will know its GDP scientifically and it is expected to capture the economy sector by sector.

He added that when released it will help Nigerians to know the contributions of each sector with a view to determine which sectors were doing well and those that were not doing well.
Maku further explained that the figure to be released would this time capture and list those sectors that emerged not too long ago like the telecoms and nollywood sector which he observed had impacted on job creation and contributed to the economy.
The Minister pointed out that the new figure is expected to serve as a window for prospective investors to be able to know the right places to put their money. He disclosed that the proposed figure was prepared with the assistance of reputable financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund IMF and others.
