Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Alhaji Hassan Hassan,is to embark on a three days visit to Crimea on April 15 this year.
The ambassador’s visit according to a notice is meant to afford him the opportunity of assessing the condition of Nigerians living in that region in the aftermath of ongoings in that part of the world.
The notice of the visit which was contained in a statement issued by the Nigerian embassy in Moscow noted that about 450 Nigerians were currently living and studying in institutions of higher learning in the Crimea region.
It stated that the government of the Russian federation have given assurances of the safety of Nigerians living in that region.
The statement urged parents of students living in that region not to entertain any fear over the safety of their wards.
It would be recalled that last month the constitutional status of that territory was changed following a referendum.
The United States of America, the European Union and some part of Europe had also since then been at logger heads with Russia over the change of status.
