The Kwara State government has disclosed that about 8,200 youths are to be empowered by the Abdufatah Ahmed led administration in the state under its quick win Empowerment Employment scheme in the next one year.
Making the announcement while presenting letters of employment to about 5,500 youths in the first phase of the scheme, the governor said that his administration has so far employed 10,000 youths in the last three years.
Towards achieving this, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed said that the State has already earmarked N2.4 billion to ensure that the programme succeeds.
Governor Ahmed assured that an additional 3,000 youths will be employed before the end of this year.
He added that the scheme was driven by the exigencies to empower youths who constituted a reasonable percentage of the states population but majority of whom were currently unemployed.
The governor said the state government has equally granted revolving credit to about 41 small and medium scale enterprises in the state towards assisting them in their development initiatives.
