Kogi State government is to spend about N154million in the training of youths in the state under its Youth Empowerment Development Programme.
Special Adviser on youth and women empowerment to the kogi state governor,Dr Temitope Shinkaiye disclosed this at the closing ceremony of Yard 4, Kogi Volunteer in Kaaba, kogi state.
She noted that problems of youth restiveness has reduced drastically as a result of the empowerment as many youths have been given employment opportunity which they have taken up.
She added that starter packs have been given to them to start their own businesses, to give them short term employment to prepare them for long term employment.
Governor Idris Wada who was at the event in company with his deputy, Mr Yomi Awoniyi assured the youths of continued government support
Said the governor,”we are happy that you our youths are now confident, looking to the future, determined to make something out of your lives and become useful and active members of the society”
“As government, we would stand by you,stand behind you and make sure that you succeed in life” the governor added.
