Hon Jumoke Akindele from Okitipupa Constituency 11 in the Ondo State House of Asssembly has emerged as the first female Speaker of the Assembly.
Hon Akindele who was the Chairman, House Committee on Education emerged at an election held in the Assembly during plenary on Tuesday having defeated two other contestants with 13 votes as against 9 votes and zero votes scored by them.
She defeated Hon Oyebo Aladetan from Ilaje 2 Constituency and Soji Akinkuolie.
Delivering her acceptance speech on the floor of the House shortly after her swearing in by the Clerk of the House,Hon Akindele thanked her colleagues ,the Labour Party and the Governor of the State for the confidence reposed in her.
She promised that she would not disappoint them in the performance of her duties and sought their support to enable the House to continue to contribute to accelerate the development of the State through perfect legislation by members of the Assembly..
Hon Jumoke Akindele who is also a lawyer replaces Hon Samuel Adesina who died in February this year after a prolonged illness.
