FG spends N26billion on inputs for farmers in 2014 rainy season

The Federal Government has said that it has paid N26billion to agro dealers to supply inputs to farmers across the country for this years rainy season.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Ibukun Odusote made the disclosure during a meeting with stakeholders from the northern states in Niger state.
The Permanent Secretary who was represented by the Ministrys Regional Director, North Central said the 2013/2014 dry season farming inputs of the Ministry was worth N4.6billion.
She stated that the government had captured 10.5 million farmers for the country’s national data base since the start of the scheme.
The Ministry according to her ensures that only genuine farmers got subsidised seedlings through the use of wallet, scratch cards to assess inputs like fertiliser.
