The Federal Government in Nigeria has approved a programme called Federal Integrated Staff Housing, FISH, to provide affordable houses to federal public servants in the country.

Head of Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji made the disclosure on Monday while inaugurating five Housing Estates in Abuja.

Goni Aji said the housing programme became necessary in order for Government to provide houses at affordable prices to its workers so as to reduce the hardships faced by most civil servants in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The Head of Service also explained that the provision of the houses was also meant to create conducive atmosphere for its workers for increased performance in their duties.

In his message to the inauguration, the Minister of the FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed commended the efforts and initiative of the Head of Service in the provision of such a facility for the workers.

The FCT Minister urged the civil servants to be conscious of fake developers who could lure them to buy unauthorized buildings in and around Abuja.
