Fayose’s campaign office in Ado Ekiti attacked

Barely two weeks after political campaigns started in Ekiti state preparatory to governorship elections on June 21 this year in the state, the campaign office of Mr Ayo Fayose, the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP,has been attacked.
The campaign office situated along Adebayo road in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state was attacked by suspected political hoodlums last Monday.
The supporters of the PDP and the All Progressive Congress in the state are pointing accusing fingers at each other over the attack.
Speaking on the incident which left the building windows smashed and some vehicles screen shattered, spokesman for Fayose ,Mr Idowu Adelusi condemned the attack and urged security operatives to bring the perpetrators to book.
Adelusi appealed to PDP supporters in the state to remain calm, be law abiding and not retaliate.
In his response, the Press secretary to the Ekiti Governor and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC,Dr Kayode Fayemi,Mr Olayinka Oyebode debunked the allegations that the governors convoy attacked anybody, saying rather the governors convoy it was that was attacked on that day by suspected thugs who came out from Fayose’s campaign office.
Reacting to the allegations, police public relations officer in Ekiti,ASP Olu Victor Babayemi said that a political party said they were attacked while holding meeting and the other one said they were attacked while on the road passing in front of the campaign office, so we have counter accusations from two different political parties.
‘We want to assure all the good people of Ekiti that we are looking at all sides in the matter to determine who are behind the attacks.”he explained.
Meanwhile, the police has warned against any further violence ahead of the June 21 governorship elections in the state.
