Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has distributed 100 motor cycles to each unit of the motorcyclist association, Okada riders in the state.
Making the donations at a ceremony in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, Fayemi said the donation was a fulfillment of his electioneering campaign.
The Governor who also used the occasion to donate an 18 seater bus each to the okada riders, the artisans and students union bodies in the state debunked rumours making the rounds by opposition parties in the state that he was determined to ban motorcyclists from operating in the state after being voted to office for a second term.
He appealed to the okada riders to invest money realized by them from the motorcycles on health insurance scheme to cater for victims in case of accidents.
Responding, the chairmen of okada riders , artisans, and students union,represented by the chairman of the okada riders ,Mr Ademolu Martins lauded the governor for the gesture which they described as unprecedented in the history of the state.
They promised that they would mobilize their members massively to vote for the All Progressives Congress APC flag bearer during this weekends governorship elections holding in Ekiti state.
