The Ekiti chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has appointed a new chairman, Mr Olatunde Olatunde to direct the affairs of the party.
The appointment of Mr Olatunde was announced after a meeting of the party’s State Executive Council on Tuesday wherein the former chairman stepped aside willingly.
Speaking shortly after his choice ,the new party chairman expressed optimism that the new exco and members would work together in harmony and in tandem with the constitution of the party in strict adherence as the lack of regard for the constitution had in the past being the cause of squabbles recorded in the stat.
Olatunde said a communique at the meeting has passed a vote of confidence on the PDP national chairman , Alhaji Muazu Adamu in view of the fact and what he termed evidence before them that he performed well before, during and after the last general election in the country.
Asked if the party’s resolution was not at variance from the Ekiti State Governors ,Mr Ayo Fayose’s contrary views about the PDP, NWC and the National Chairman since the party’s electoral failure, he replied that the party and Fayose and governance were two different things.
He explained that whilst Gov Fayose should face and lead governance in the state, they as a party owe their allegiance and absolute loyalty to the NWC of the party at the national level, stressing that their was no rancour or conflict on that.
