Party chieftains and bigwigs on Wednesday converged on Ado-Ekiti in what was described in political circles as a mega rally to present the flag of the All Progressives Congress to its candidate in the governorship elections expected to take place in Ekiti June 21 this year.
Those who were present at the event were the APC interim chairman, chief Bisi Akande,, national leader ,Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Mohammed Buhari and governors of the APC controlled states in the country.
Speaking at the event, General Buhari described Governor Fayemi as a man whose capacity as a leader has manifested through his visible performances in the last three years..
In his own comment, the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Tinubu said APC was gradually bringing about positive change in governance through performance, hence there was the need for the people of Ekiti to vote for Fayemi in the June 21 election in Ekiti if they want more rapid development in the state.
Tinubu appealed to the people of Ekiti not to sell their voters cards and also not fear security agents but be bold in casting their votes on the day of election for Fayemi for another term.
Chairman APC Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha said Fayemi had made impact in the state through visionary leadership and excellent performance in the provision of sociAL amenities to the people,which qualified him as a good material for second term as governor.
Also speaking at the occasion, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state appealed to the people to use their votes to acknowledge the economic turn around of the state as carried out by Gov Fayemi in the last three years by voting for him come June 21.
Comrade Oshiomhole lauded Governor Fayemi for making bold statement in the area of education in the state.
In another comment at the event, Chief Segun Oni , a former governor of the state on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party PDP,but recently decamped to APC, noted that Fayemi had transformed the economy of the State beyond human imagination.
Oni enjoined Ekiti people to see it as very important for them to vote Fayemi back to office as governor for him to continue to do what he termed his good works.
Responding to all the speeches,Governor Kayode Fayemi assured the people of more dividends of democracy and people friendly policies that will bring about transformational development of the state.
According to him, governance has provided him the opportunity to serve and contribute immensely to the lives of Ekiti through purposeful leadership.
Fayemi appealed to them to support him and for for APC in the forthcoming election.
Meanwhile, the proposed presentation ceremony of the PDP governorship candidate in the June21 election, Mr Ayo Fayose scheduled for Thursday has been postponed by one week.
According to a statement by the PDP national Publicity Secretary,Mr Olisa Metuh said the event expected to be led by President Goodluck Jonathan was postponed in honour of victims of the explosions that took place in Jos ,Plateau state on Tuesday.
