The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has turned the heat of its investigations of public servants on ex -governors as it has arrested a former governor of Imo state, Mr. Ikedi Ohakim.
Ohakim ,governor of Imo state between 2007 and 2011 was arrested last Wednesday morning at his residence in the Asokoro district of the nation’s capital, Abuja.
The Spokesman of the commission, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren confirmed the arrest to journalists saying that an invitation was sent to the former governor but he failed to turn up for interrogation.
As at the time of filing this report, Mr. Ohakim was in EFCC detention according to Uwujaren .
Uwujaren told pressmen that the former governor was arrested in order to respond to questions bordering on a number of property allegedly traced to him.
Also in the custody of the EFCC is a former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido who reportedly surrendered himself for questioning at the commission’s headquarters.
Ex-Gov Lamido is currently been quizzed by the commission’s operatives over alleged bribery and money laundering offences.
