A Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, Jigawa State, has directed all the commercial banks operating in the state to freeze accounts bearing the names of Governor Sule Lamido, Birnin-Kudu Local Government and the Jigawa State Government with immediate effect.
The court also summoned the banks to appear before it with statements of their accounts.

The court’s decision followed the refusal of the governor and state government to obey the court’s order to pay the sum of N50 million as damage compensation to All Progressives Congress, APC senator-elect, Muhammad Nakudu and one other in the court judgment.

Trial judge, Justice Sabiu Yahuza made the order, when the plaintiffs went back to his court through their counsel, Umar Aliyu, complaining that the defendent did not comply with the court judgment and refused to pay the damage compensation.

Speaking after the court order, the plaintiffs’ counsel, Umar Aliyu expressed satisfaction with the decision, saying “We dragged Lamido and the state government, Birninkudu council and state’s Commissioner of Police to court for illegal trespass, attacking my client resident in Birnin kudu town and violation of his right.
