The chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Adesola Amosun has called for the speedy completion of radar coverage of the country for effective monitoring of the nations air space.
Air Vice Marshal Amosun stated this at the 2014 Nigerian Air force Operation Seminar held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
According to him lessons drawn by the Air force from recent operation towards dislodgement of insurgencies in the north east of the country had raised some fundamental issues in the Nigerian Air force capability for greater operational effectiveness.
He said ithat the fight against insurgents had also highlighted the agencies needs in terms of available logistics as well as training and retraining of air traffic control officers.
Air Vice Marshal Amosun noted that their collaboration with other security agencies in combined efforts in the fight against insurgents were already yielding positive results.
The sum of N74 billion ,he added,was needed to complete the rader coverage of Nigeria’s air space.
The theme of this years seminar is “Air Power Employment in Asymmetric Warfare, the Nigerian Air force Perspective.”
