2 dead,4injured in building collapse in Akure,Ondo State.

An enviromental disaster was recorded in Akure, capital of Ondo State on Thursday as a building under construction collapsed killing two people and injuring four others.
The building which was meant for classrooms collapsed around 7.30am as workers on the site got set to commence the days job within the premises situated at Sango area along Ado- Ekiti road.

The scene was immediately thrown into confusion as the structure with the ground floor already completed suddenly caved in as a 12year old service boy on the first floor trying to convey sand for his masters mix caved along and the debris fell on him.

Speaking on the incident, the Chairman Caretaker Committee of Akure local government area in whose jurisdiction the incident took place, Mr Segun Aderuku described the incident as sad and quite unfortunate.

He stressed that the law will take its full course as far as the building collapse was concerned because it was glaring that the materials used for the building were substandard and the job was carried out half harzardly.

Also speaking on the incident when he visited the scene, the Ondo State Commissioner for Works Mr Adegbenro in company with his Information counterpart, Mr Kayode Akinmade, disclosed that the government would take appropriate action to ensure that culprits involved in the construction works of the collapsed building will be brought to book.

The Commissioners commended the state emergency team for their quick response to the distress call immediately the incident happened.
